The main aim of the Tikuna indigenous community of San Martin de Amacayacu is to obtain the official recognition of their ancestral lands. However, it is also considered crucial to inform as many interested parties as possible about all relevant aspects of the inevitably long and very complicated process towards this recognition: the historic background, the methodologies used, the people worked with, the challenges faced, the solutions provided, the difficulties yet to overcome and the steps still to be taken. This way, it is sincerely hoped that people from far and wide can appreciate the enormous effort taken on by San Martin de Amacayacu, especially considering the small budget available and the general lack of regional interest in supporting the community. The bi-monthly newsletter published by the Small World Foundation provides information to an extensive public. Additionally, representatives of San Martin de Amacayacu have worked with international university students and staff, and achieved publications on a scientific level and in form of powerpoint presentations on various locations, posters on congresses and journal articles. Below, some of these important documents can be appreciated under each green heading – they have also been developed for you!
